A little clever, a little classic. These marble-look acrylic coasters do more than protect your table. Labeled North, East, South, and West, they subtly guide seating during Mahjong, where direction actually matters.

We designed these coasters to keep track of who’s East without interrupting the flow of the game, they bring order to the table while still looking polished enough to leave out long after play ends. Functional, thoughtful, and just playful enough to spark conversation.

Designed to pair seamlessly with our Haus No. 88 collection.

We ship all orders via UPS Ground, which typically arrives within 3–7 business days depending on your location. At checkout, you’ll be able to see real-time shipping estimates based on your address. We’re exploring expedited options for an additional fee and hope to offer them soon.

For pre-sale items, shipping works a bit differently. Any order that includes a pre-sale product will ship once all items in that order are in stock. If you'd like your in-stock items sooner, we recommend placing two separate orders so they can ship separately.

We’ll always keep you informed with email updates as your pre-sale items move through production and get closer to delivery.

FAQ

Find the most frequently asked questions below.
  • Haus of Tiles is the first full mahjong collection created by an interior designer—a brand built on the belief that the game you love should feel as beautiful as the home you play it in. Our founder saw a need for tiles and accessories that could live in harmony with the room, looking just as stunning styled in a glass bowl on the credenza as they do in the middle of game night.

Rooted in color theory, pattern play, and thoughtful design, our sets strike a minimalist–maximalist balance: bold enough to make a statement, refined enough to never overwhelm. It’s just the right amount of punch—artful, elevated, and neutral enough to stay out on the table every day.

We also design with interchangeability in mind. Most of our tile sets, mats, racks, and shufflers are intentionally crafted to mix and match. Just like layering textiles and finishes in a room, we believe mahjong should be a curated, cohesive experience—one where every element works together beautifully.

Haus of Tiles brings interior design sensibility to the world of mahjong, creating pieces that feel timeless, tactile, and uniquely yours.

  • What you’re paying for isn’t always obvious at first glance, and that’s intentional.

The difference lives in the development. In the time spent refining details most brands never touch. We obsess so you don’t have to.

Each Haus of Tiles collection is artist-backed and custom-designed from the ground up. Colors aren’t pulled from a chart. They’re developed, tested, adjusted, and revisited repeatedly until they feel right in real spaces, under real light, and alongside real interiors.

That same level of precision applies to everything we make. Tiles, mats, racks, accessories, and packaging all go through extensive sampling and refinement so the final result feels cohesive, elevated, and timeless, not trendy or loud.

You may not be able to name exactly why it feels better, but you feel it. That’s the result of countless decisions, revisions, and hours of research and development working quietly behind the scenes.

Our manufacturing partners have told us directly that no other Mahjong brand approaches the game this way. What we create isn’t mass-produced. It’s bespoke design, built with intention.

  • Yes and no — and that’s exactly the point.

Yes, our tiles stay true to the classic structure of American Mahjong. The suits, symbols, and meanings remain authentic and instantly recognizable to any player, new or seasoned. Even in our themed collections, the artwork is intentionally literal so nothing ever feels abstract or confusing.

And no, we don’t replicate traditional tiles line for line. We reinterpret them through an interior designer’s eye—cleaner lines, warmer palettes, elevated details, and a modern aesthetic that feels at home in today’s interiors.

For players who love the tried-and-true look most, our Haus No. 88 set is the closest to the iconic originals: same essence, same familiarity, reimagined with a fresh, refined touch.

So while our designs honor tradition, they bring something new to the table—quite literally. Timeless bones, modern beauty, and a balance that feels both familiar and special.

  • Our tiles are crafted with a focus on quality, longevity, and artistry. Each one is deeply engraved and hand-painted, giving the designs a richness and clarity that won’t wear off with play. We use a sturdy, premium-weight tile with a slightly larger face, making the artwork easier to see and the tiles more satisfying to handle.

After engraving and painting, our tiles are tumbled for days at a time. This extended tumbling process smooths edges, softens corners, and creates the hand-feel players love. It’s what gives the tiles their silky, broken-in feel, rather than a sharp, factory finish. Tumbling is time-intensive and adds cost, but it’s essential to how the tiles feel in play.

Because of this process, you may notice light surface marks or fine scratches when you open your set. These are not signs of use. They’re a natural result of tumbling and finishing, and a hallmark of tiles that have been carefully refined by hand, not rushed through production.

Every tile is touched by a human hand multiple times throughout the process. Subtle variations are normal and intentional. They’re part of small-batch craftsmanship and what makes each set feel personal rather than mass-produced.

The result is a tile that feels substantial, smooth, and balanced in the hand. One that sounds right on the table, plays beautifully, and looks just as good displayed as it does in use. Our tiles are designed to be played, lived with, and loved for years to come.

  • The star is our signature for two reasons, both rooted in guidance and grounding.

In mahjong, the compass directions—North, South, East, and West—are essential to the rhythm of the game. The star represents that idea of orientation: a subtle nod to the way Mahjong helps you find your place at the table and in the moment.

It’s also deeply personal to our founder. She discovered mahjong during a season when she needed something to look forward to—something steady, social, and joy-filled. The game quickly became her north star, a guiding light that brought connection, creativity, and community back into her life.

Our star icon honors both: the compass of the game and the compass of the heart.

  • Our tiles are designed to be both beautiful and durable. To keep them looking their best, wipe them with a soft, slightly damp cloth whenever needed. Avoid harsh chemicals or soaking, as water can settle into engraved areas. For daily upkeep, a dry microfiber cloth removes fingerprints and keeps the finish looking crisp.

    Rectangular Mats (with 2" grommet):

Because these mats include a metal grommet, we recommend surface cleaning only. Use a mild soap-and-water solution and gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth or sponge. For spills or deeper cleaning, spot-treat the area and allow the mat to air-dry flat. Avoid long stretches of direct sunlight to preserve color integrity.

    Octagon Mats (no grommet):

These can be cared for a bit more freely. Spot cleaning is still ideal, but for a deeper refresh you may carefully hand-wash in cold water with a gentle detergent. Lay flat to dry fully—no heat and no dryer. (Machine washing is not recommended, as repeated agitation can stress neoprene over time.)

Both styles are made from durable neoprene designed for years of play. With simple, gentle care, your mat will stay smooth, vibrant, and game-night ready.
